HIGHLAND REEL – REELING IN SUCCESS
He looks incredibly well and relaxed after arriving back in Australia for his third season after stud duties in Ireland.
The local market got a look at his first weanlings this year and they liked what they saw as they sold for up to $76,000. His progeny will now head to the Easter Yearling Sale in 2021.
The seven-time Group 1 winner, who had victories at the highest level in England, Hong Kong and America, has had his progeny incredibly well received in both hemispheres.
With two crops to in race in both hemispheres, this is the year to send a mare to him.
His European yearlings will be two year-olds in a couple of months and this time next year they’ll be making their racing debuts.
Highland Reel’s popularity in this his third Australian season will certainly grow from his second season as people have been able to get out and see his outstanding progeny.
Magic Millions and Inglis have already earmarked some for the sales.
And Swettenham Stud says Highland Reel’s crop is probably the most impressive they’ve seen from their stallions, even more impressive than Toronado and that’s certainly saying something.
When evaluating Highland Reel, breeders are reminded that those who supported Toronado in his third season actually got a better return than what they did in the stallion’s first and second seasons.
