TORONADO FLIES IN AND FLIES INTO TOP CONTENTION
Quite simply, Toronado is the stallion everyone wants.
In what is perhaps a little bit bitter-sweet, Swettenham Stud would love to please everyone wanting to send a mare to the in demand stallion – but his book has been closed for the 2020 season and it has been for a long time.
And it’s not surprising with his feats on the racetrack generating big prices in the sales ring which is reflected in the fact that his progeny from his third season averaged more than what they did in his first and second seasons.
He was Victoria’s most popular stallion in 2019, covering 197 mares.
And things only seem to be getting better for Toronado with reports that his yearlings being offered in 2021 will be his best crop to date as the demand for his horses, especially in the lucrative Hong Kong market, is at an all-time high.
Back in Australia after another successful Northern hemisphere breeding season, Toronado has never looked better in quarantine and hasn’t taken his head out of the feed bin.
