Australian Black Type for Americain’s Amerock
The talented Americain sired galloper Amerock, was placed to perfection on Saturday running a very credible third in the Listed Morphettville Guineas.
Bred and part owned by Colleen Bamford from Daisy Hill Breeding, the three-year-old colt is raced by a large and enthusiastic group of owners, managed by Mark Hoare from Pacific Bloodstock, who bought him as a yearling at the 2016 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
Trained by the formidable Darren Weir stable, he travelled well throughout, and raced on well to the line although the stable has noted that there is still plenty of improvement still to come.
“He was a little green when he hit the front and probably could have benefited from blinkers, with jockey John Allen, commenting that he was a little bit lost out in front,” Bamford said.
Amerock broke his maiden impressively at Donald two weeks earlier where he started as favourite, giving a good indication of his ability as a promising galloper.
He has pulled up very well again from this run, but Weir is yet to make the decision on whether he will have a little let up or if he will race on.
“He has had a very long preparation this time in, and it would be a good note to finish on. Reports from Weir’s stable is that we haven’t reached the bottom of him yet, and all opinions are that he has a promising future and we will have a bit of fun with him,” Bamford said.
Mark Hoare, managing owner was also delighted with the effort he showed, noting that he really gave his all in the race and handled the interstate travel well.
“He has done a magnificent job in his first prep, he was so relaxed in the yard yesterday with all the noise and commotion. His temperament is one of the horse’s greatest assets. His maturity levels in both body and mind are still developing, and if he can find natural improvement, we are in for a hell of a ride,” Hoare said.
Amerock has now given the beautifully bred Zabeel mare Miss Shamrock some all-important black type. Miss Shamrock’s Group 1 Oaks winning dam Irish Darling produced the Victorian stallion Fighting Sun. Purchased specifically by Bamford to match well with Americain, she was drawn to Zabeel in her pedigree as a broodmare sire.
