Today was the debut for the first Southern Hemisphere crop of Toronado’s in the sale ring. In the inaugural Inglis Broodmare and Weanling sale at Newmarket today, Toronado was represented by 2 colts and 1 filly.
With the hammer coming down for all 3 Weanlings, he has averaged over $71,500 with a top price of $80,000.
First to go through was Lot 7, a bay colt out of Baize. Fierce bidding saw him walk out of the ring for $75,000 to the bid of Victorian Nursery, Musk Creek Farm.
With a small gap, he was followed by the bay colt out of Cape Augusta who was knocked down for $60,000.
The final lot for Toronado was Lot 61, a bay filly out of well performed race mare Lacey Underall was initially passed in but was sold quickly out of the ring for $80,000 to Peter Ford.
The average for the Select Session of Weanlings was $27,427 so it is clear that the first crop of Toronado’s has impressed the buying bench in Australasia.
