Equiano’s Aim is True with 3 winners in 24 hours
Equiano has had a very successful 24 hours with three winners across three meetings.
The first to salute was Robbie Griffith’s Curvano at Pakenham Park in the Aligned Leisure (Bm64) 1200m ridden in a tight finish by Jye McNeil. McNeil commented after the race that by drawing awkwardly, he had to do some work but he settled well and was very tough through the line when challenged. In front of a large group of owners, he was upbeat about the run and believes there is more improvement to come. Curvano is a 4yo chestnut gelding out of the Annaba mare Curvaceous Miss. Curvano has now had two wins from seven starts and looks likely to continue his winning form for the Griffiths stable.
Gitan won at Goulburn, giving Equiano his second winner in the Doyle's on the Beach Maiden Plate over 1400m. Out of the mare Flying Spice by Flying Spur, Gitan was trained by Jean Dubois and ridden by Jeff Penza. Leading throughout the race, he gave a good kick when needed to find the line.
Bred by Euan White, Gitan was sold by Swettenham Stud at the 2015 Inglis Premier Yearling sales for $100k to Woodpark Stud. Swettenham will be offering his impressive half sister
at the upcoming Premier Yearling sales as Lot 749 (PICTURED), by their blue blood stallion Master Of Design.
My Aim is True was the third winner for Equiano when she secured her maiden win in the 1200m William Hill Plate at Moonee Valley. Speaking post ride, Regan Bayliss was please how she jumped and once settled she was able to switch off completely, before accelerating when needed. Bayliss has been in great form for the Hayes, Hayes & Dabernig partnership of late and made note of the quality horses he is getting the opportunity to ride.
Stable representative, Bruno Rouge-Serrett commented post race, that she should have already broken her maiden, however she had a few narrow misses at Mornington and has run into a couple of nice horses. He had no doubt that she is now on her way, and should find more success in the future. A 3yo chestnut filly, she is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Emilyjoy and was bred by Mr C Gordon.
