VIP Swettenham Stud Experience winner eyes the prize!
Swettenham Stud will host the winners of the VIP Swettenham Stud Experience tomorrow at their Premier Yearling Sale parade.
Won by Melbourne Racing Club members Deborah & Geoff Dixon they are excited to spend a day visiting the professional breeding operation and also see their prize, a service to stallion Trust in a Gust (pictured) in the flesh.
Melbourne Racing Club’s Racing and Media Executive, Josh Rodder commented on the exposure the Swettenham Summer Championships had on members and the racing public.
Through social media, and using the hashtag #summer champs, members could predict the winner of each leg of the Swettenham Summer Series Championships. This initiative exposed a large national and international audience to Swettenham Stud. Through Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, the series encouraged not only racehorse ownership, but also how to become involved in breeding thoroughbreds. Now in it’s sixth year, the series has continued to grow in popularity.
Rodder is excited to be bringing up the recent VIP Swettenham Experience winners to the stud, where they will be treated to a stallion parade and have an opportunity to preview the yearlings Swettenham Stud is preparing for the upcoming Inglis Premier Sales.
With a draft of 38 yearlings heading to the Oaklands sales complex, one yearling that is of particular interest is lot 63, a grey filly by I Am Invincible out of the mare Members Joy.
Selected by Swettenham’s Adam Sangster at the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Josh Rodder was the syndicate manager of Members Joy, who was successfully raced by the MRC Members Horse Club. She gave members the opportunity to experience the thrill of racehorse ownership, racing over four years and winning $285k in prize money.
The story had come a full circle as Members Joy won the Swettenham Stud Dash For Cash Plate at her first start and now her daughter is at Swettenham Stud being prepared for the sales.
Melbourne Racing Club will also host members at the Inglis Premier Yearling sales on Sunday 26th February 2017 where they have a opportunity to see the Swettenham Stud yearlings being inspected under the expert guidance of a bloodstock agent and experience the thrill of being ringside when the hammer falls.
