Swettenham sell VOBIS filly to EZ Racing

Ellerton Zahra Racing topped Swettenham Stud’s VOBIS Gold yearling consignment with $52,500 bid at Oaklands earlier this week.
Catalogued as Lot 191, the Myboycharlie filly (pictured) is a younger half-sister to Benefactor who won a Kyneton maiden at his penultimate start for Darren Weir. They are the first foals for Dashing Oberon (Falbrav), a half-sister to Flemington stakes winner Celebrity Girl and the dam of Group 1 sprinter Generalife.
Trainers Mat Ellerton and Simon Zahra have prepared numerous Swettenham sired winners and their Master Of Design filly Creativity won’t be long breaking her maiden in Melbourne. She was stakes placed at Flemington on Australian Guineas day last month.
Next best at Oaklands was the Helmet - Varevees filly ($34,000) and Equiano - Ecdysiast colt ($33,000) followed by the Host - Image Dancer filly ($27,000) bought by Aquanita Racing.
Another Host filly (Lot 52) was purchased by Swettenham media manager Rachel Spriggens and will be raced by friends and colleagues of the stud’s operations manager Tim Jones who died earlier this month.
Jones bred the filly from Marrakai (Bianconi) who is a winning sister to Bianmick (G3 MVRC JRA Plate). She foaled a second Host filly in September.
The latest foals by Swettenham Stud sires Equiano (Lot 90), Master Of Design (Lot 122) and Americain (Lot 150) will be offered at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale in Sydney on Sunday, May 1. The Equiano colt received a pedigree update last month when Thames Court won the G3 Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley.
