Swettenham’s VOBIS Gold winners on a Plate

Northkape is running into form at just the right time for Swettenham Stud ahead of the Inglis Melbourne VOBIS Gold yearling sale this Sunday.
The Robbie Griffiths trained Kaphero filly was a $5,000 graduate from Swettenham at the 2014 VOBIS Gold Sale. Northkape (pictured) was bred by Adam Sangster and Gerry Ryan and paid up immediately with a debut win in the $130,000 Inglis VOBIS Gold Plate (1000m) at Cranbourne.
Swettenham Stud still has the largest consignment of any VOBIS Gold vendor after its Redoute’s Choice – Anna Dana filly (Lot 161) was withdrawn on Wednesday. The stud’s incoming media manager Rachel Spriggens targeted the following four lots among Swettenham’s draft of 22 yearlings in Barn D at Oaklands.
Lot 52 Brown Filly Host ex Marrakai
A well grown filly with a lot of leg underneath. Not typical of a first foal and has a pedigree to suggest she will run early and train on.”
Lot 126 Bay or Brown Filly Equiano ex Star Snuck
From a family of sprinter-milers this good-looking filly is very athletic and has a great walk. With a great pedigree page she certainly will have plenty of residual value.
Lot 139 Bay Filly Helmet ex Varevees
Out of a Group 3 winner this filly stands over a lot of ground and has great bone. We would expect her to be bought in mind for the classic filly races and her pedigree suggests the same.
Lot 167 Bay Colt Zoffany ex Beheshta
With a significant update in his pedigree via Berisha in the Mornington Cup, he’s proving very popular. He’s a precocious type with a fantastic walk and ticks all the boxes of what buyers are looking for in this sale.
