Designs entered for G1 Blue Diamond
Swettenham Stud sire Master Of Design has a half-brother to Fontein Ruby catalogued for the Gold Coast Magic Millions and the colt’s full brother is also showing plenty of promise at Lindsay Park.
The Master Of Design – Charming Ruby colt will parade as Lot 94 on Wednesday, January 6 and is the first of 18 yearlings drafted by Amarina Farm. He is being sold on behalf of Victorian breeder Rob Salter.
Fontein Ruby won three stakes races at Flemington, Caulfield and Moonee Valley and her bank-balance topped $1 million following a further victory in the $250,000 VOBIS Gold Reef at Caulfield.
Her dam Charming Ruby (Rubiton) is a three-quarter sister to Cox Plate hero Fields Of Omagh and Salter sent her to Master Of Design when he retired to Swettenham in 2012.
That first-crop colt made $120,000 at this year’s Melbourne Premier to the bid of David Hayes. “He’s been named Julio and has just finished his first full prep,” Lindsay Park Racing Manager Rayan Moore said this week. “He’s a strong type and is a nice mover with a lovely temperament but David doesn’t want to rush him.”
Julio is among first declarations for the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield on February 27 and other Master Of Designs entered for the $1 million event are Kinetic Design and Judelly.
Kinetic Design is raced by Morning Rise Stud’s Rob McClure and was runner-up on debut in the LR Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington. McClure bred Judelly and kept a share after selling him to Ciaron Maher for $180,000 at the 2015 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Master of Design (Redoute’s Choice) won the G1 T J Smith at weight-for-age and stands for a $15,000 service fee at Swettenham.
