Equiano in Motion
Ann Duffield trained the first stakes winner by Equiano and she prepared another smart type by the Swettenham Stud shuttler on Wednesday.
Her Equiano youngster Lolamotion staged a last-to-first finish in the Etton Stakes (1000m) at Beverley on Wednesday. After missing the kick, the filly made headway and reached the lead at the furlong before running away to score by over a length.
Duffield plotted a similar path with Dark Reckoning this time last year. The Equiano filly won at Pontefract and Ripon before stepping up to claim the G3 Firth of Clyde Stakes in September.
Lolamotion (2f Equiano – Ocean View by Gone West) is bred to improve with racing – USA bred mare Ocean View was placed in a G1 Hollywood Oaks and her earlier foals include G3 Arlington Futurity winner Officer Rocket (Officer).
Equiano (Fr) is a Top 5 sire on the Great Britain second-season table and is he’s engaged in another battle with several shuttlers on the winners table – Zebedee (15) leads from Equiano (14), Paco Boy (13) and Makfi (12).
Swettenham will stand Equiano for a $13,750 (inc gst) fee this year.
