Hosting recovers for spring carnival
April 22, 2014
Fears that a leg injury may have finished the career of Hosting have been allayed by trainer Greg Eurell.
Hosting pulled up lame after an unplaced run in the Macaulay Hcp (1400m) at Flemington earlier this month. “He was taken to the Werribee Vet Clinic and it didn’t look good,” Eurell explained. “The tests showed he fractured a humerus bone – which wasn’t great to hear. But the good news is that it’s not career ending. “He’s very popular here at Cadet Lodge and is expected to make a full recovery. We’re looking forward to seeing him back in the stable for the spring carnival.”
Hosting is a son of Swettenham Stud stallion Host (Chi) and he earned black-type placings as an autumn three year-old in the LR Manfred Stakes and G3 C S Hayes Stakes. Resuming earlier this season, he won at Sandown and Rosehill but was denied a hat-trick when blocked for a run in the G2 Shannon Stakes.
Hosting (4g Host – Kali Smytzer by Zabeel) is a half-brother to the Danewin stakes winners King Diamond (LR Ballarat Cup) and Elderly Paradise (LR Macau Derby). Host has two fillies catalogued for the Inglis VOBIS Gold Sale this weekend. Lot 20 is from A Right Royal Miss (Royal Academy) on account of Hallmark Thoroughbreds and Lot 232 is out of Sparkling Symphony (Stravinsky) being sold as part of the Swettenham draft. Her dam is a half-sister to Hong Kong Group 1 winner Packing Winner.
