There is no doubting the credentials of young stallion Highland Reel.

Now standing his third season at Swettenham Stud, he is the best performed son of champion racehorse and stallion, Galileo.

Highland Reel is so much like his outstanding father who just recently in one day – September 13 – kept the Group 1 victories rolling along when he produced another three horses to win at the highest level.

Three-year-old Galileo colt Mogul recorded the first of the Group 1 treble for his sire when he won the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp.

And later that afternoon, two-year-old filly Shale won the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, and was soon followed by Dermot Weld’s four-year-old mare Search For A Song, winning the Group 1 Irish St Ledger for a second time.

And Highland Reel is among Galileo’s 88 Group 1 winners.

Looks can be deceiving, but not when you’re looking at Galileo and Highland Reel. Quite simply, they look like each other. And look at Highland Reel’s progeny and again you can tell who sired them, so if his foals look like him then they look like Galileo.

And of Galileo’s sire sons, Highland Reel looks more like his father.

It’s no wonder when other key points of Highland Reel’s CV are revealed that he demands attention. He is the best performed son of Galileo, with six Group 1 victories and is the sire’s highest earner with more than $14 million in prizemoney.

He is the only son of Galileo standing in Victoria.

All the feedback on Highland Reel’s yearlings are that they are outstanding which is why they’ll heading to all the top sales – Magic Millions Gold Coast, Melbourne Premier and the Easter Yearling Sale.

Highland Reel has more than 100 bookings this season and he’ll probably cover a similar number to his first season at Swettenham when he served nearly 150 mares. The bookings keep coming and while they have exceeded the stud’s expectations, they’re not really surprised.

He is priced competitively and breeders know Swettenham are supporting the stallions and importantly everyone has had a chance to have a look at what Highland Reel has thrown and no one has been disappointed.
