| Host Served His First Book In 2008 |
|
Host who was extremely popular after being launched on the day Hussonet enjoyed a Group 1 double. On the back of Weekend Hussler winning the Oakleigh Plate and Reaan winning the Blue Diamond it was obvious that Host would serve a very nice book and he did, ending up with 93 mares in foal. Most are extremely well related, but just concentrating on Group 1 and 2 close associations the following mares (in alphabetical order) deserve some recognition:
Over 40 more mares are full or half relations to the dams of Group 1 or 2 winners or from Group winning mares. Host with 10 wins (2 at Grp 1 level) was one of the most prolific Group winners by Hussonet, save for the gelded Weekend Hussler. He is unquestionably the best performed son of Hussonet in Australia that has ventured to stud. He was Champion Colt at 2 and 3 in his country (Chile) plus Horse of the Year in Chile as a 3YO; he was also a Group 1 winner in the Shadwell Turf Mile at Keeneland; Host won a further three Group races in the USA (incl the prestigious Grp 2 Knickerbocker Hcp at Aqueduct); and he ran 4th and 5th in the Dubai Duty Free and Breeders Cup Mile respectively as his career came to a close. It is no surprise that breeders supported the horse in his first year and are queuing up again for a second serving. |
