02-03-2010 Mauled
By Hold That Tiger from Rumble(by Flying Spur)
Grafton A$9k Bnchmk 54 1402m
Won 4 races, this was first on heavy ground and looks like he handles it well. Winter through grades may be his go. No need to rush from here on in.
28-02-2010 Morfontaine
By Bianconi from Shasmin(by Racer's Edge)
Pakenham A$12k Mdn 1008m
From Ballarat midweek 3rd to Pakenham looked a good move. So it proved home as he scraped home as fav. Still a 3YO with plenty of upside. Will enjoy weight relief next start.
28-02-2010 Whipsaw
By Hold That Tiger from Supalan(by Black Zephyr (NZ))
Pinjarra A$11k Mdn 1600m
5th at Ascot first up over 1200m then 11 day back up to 1600m was a task and he handled it with aplomb. Cruised home by over 3L. Next start from here will be interesting.
27-02-2010 Helluva Hurry
By Dash For Cash from Cindest(by Best Western)
Gold Coast A$10k Mdn 1400m
Won by 1.3L beating the $100k and $90k yearlings into 2nd and 3rd in the process. Long way to go but now had the confidence booster who knows.
27-02-2010 Diamond Royale
By Bianconi from County Royale (by County)
Esperance A$7k Cl1 1100m
Started odds on and won by 2.5L with 55kgs after claim. Suggested better over longer, but good to see her win again so soon after breaking Maiden.
26-02-2010 Alezzie
By Court Of Jewels from West Of The Bridge(by Durbridge)
Bendigo A$12k Rtng 0-62 1000m
Sat wide on pace and powered away in the straight for a narrow, but extremely convincing win. Promised plenty last time in and great first up win in extra quick time.
26-02-2010 Aventine
By Bianconi from In Bad Taste(by Snippets)
Fannie Bay A$11k Rtng 0-73 1300m Oil BT
Was a promising horse in Vic backed heavily a few times. Has settled in well to Darwin. 2 wins and two close seconds. 4YO heading to Carnival for SOD and the team.
25-02-2010 HOLD THAT PROSPECT
By Hold That Tiger from Prospector Run (USA)(by Tactical Advantage (USA))
Aqueduct US$60k F&M Stks 1200m Turf
Two horse war as the two favourites singled out. They finished over 8L in front of 3rd with the HTT mare the victor by a length on the line. Second SW in a row.
25-02-2010 Play The Fool
By Hold That Tiger from Marlane Lady(by Tarnpir Lane)
Ballarat A$15k F&M Mdn 1400m
Rounded them up well well from back off the pace. Nice to see her settle and then hit the line even if posted out on a limb at the rear. Promising filly last 600m good in slow run race.
24-02-2010 Almost Cheval
By Bianconi from Julia Cleo (NZ)(by Pompeii Court (USA))
Mt Gambier A$15k Hcp 1200m
Has won 5 races and just shy of $100k. The time of 1.10.16 was a good gallop at the track. This gelding can win again as he sits close to pace and always puts himself in the race.

Three Stakes Results For Hold That Tiger.

Danse Greque Obscured in the Blue Silks
Danse Greque Obscured in the Blue Silks
Another day at the office for Hold That Tiger stock in the Northern Hemisphere on the prestigious Arc De Triomphe weekend in France - the anniversary of Hold That Tiger’s stunning Group 1 2YO win in the Grand Criterium over 7 furlongs.

The stallion produced a stakes winner and two stakes seconds to round out the weekend. While not the ultimately successful weekend these runners importantly showed that they will graduate to further black type success and enhance an already impressive percentage of stakes horses to runners for the Group 1 winning son of Storm Cat.

On Saturday the Hold That Tiger 4YO mare Danse Grecque got the ball rolling. She was coming back in distance and managed to sit handily in third place in the Group 2 1600m Daniel Wildenstein Stakes at Longchamp. After drawing a good barrier and importantly beginning well she just popped in behind the pace.

Bank Robber Stars in Melbourne Trial
Monday, 05 October 2009

By Clinton Payne

Bank Robber
Bank Robber
Champion trainer Gai Waterhouse made a lightning trip to Cranbourne to watch classy galloper Bank Robber trial and the gelding didn't let her down, putting in a pleasing performance.

The son of Dash For Cash was ridden by Brad Rawiller and was never off the bridle in his 990 metre heat, the gelding handling the Cranbourne training track with ease.

Rawiller steered Bank Robber to a five-length win over the Greg Eurell-trained Go My Girl and the city-performed pair Barwon Express and Tale Of Love.

Brave Tiger Can Look To Breeder's Cup Mile
Monday, 21 September 2009

Hold That Tiger gelding Jungle Wave ran fourth in the Woodbine $1 million Mile Stakes a Grade 1 event early this morning Australian time. In the prestigious turf race Jungle Wave enjoyed the most horrendous trip imaginable. Three wide the entire journey with no cover and forcing the pace in a typically American ride.

Rushing through the first 1200m in 1.09.08 it was no surprise they ran a final stakes record of 1.32.04 for the mile and just missed the all time track record. Jungle Wave was extremely gallant after hitting the front at the top of the long Woodbine straight. In the end he succumbed to 5YO mare Ventura the Breeder’s Cup Fillies and Mares Sprint victor from last year and previously second in this event as a 4YO.

Jungle Wave was beaten in a photo for third by a nose from a horse that sat out the back and got the last run at them. In fact the first three home all came from back off the suicidal pace. The strength of Jungle Wave’s effort was that despite the uninspired ride he beat home the even money favourite Bribon who had a soft run back on the rail and he also accounted for last year’s Woodbine Mile winner Rahy’s Attorney who was another of the favoured runners.

Any sort of conservative ride should see Jungle Wave competitive at the highest level. It is one thing to graduate to Grade 1 racing and it is another to wait for your day in the sun and not just be the raw fodder up front and therefore a sitting duck to the quality gallopers. Particularly, when the Hold That Tiger stock have proved over and again that they like racing as their sire did, back off the speed and conserved for a final scintillating burst. (IR)

Court Of Jewels Filly in Tough Debut
Sunday, 20 September 2009

She Swings a 3YO Filly ex Stallard (daughter of Last Tycoon stallion Monde Bleu) saluted in impressive style on Saturday at Morphettville in a 3YO sprint. Her last 600m was an exceptionally quick split of 34.06 and she carved out the 1000m in 57.57seconds which is very slick on debut for any young horse.

In winning, a cool $29,800 jumped in for the winning owner Di Jolly who had a nice SABIS bonus as well. Husband and trainer Richard Jolly would have enjoyed the win and what better way to get the boss off your back than winning in town. Seriously, the Jolly’s deserved this win after the filly injured a tendon before she was due to be sold. Unable to risk selling a horse with an issue to clients they took the punt themselves and had the Ace Cells treatment. Since resuming She Swings has trialled well, improved in blinkers and now really gone on with it.

The race saw She Swings defeat the Danzero filly, Danseda a Magic Millions Gold Coast $65k graduate and a previous city winner trained by David Hayes. Third was another city winner Believe In More a $50k Inglis Classic filly by leading stallion More Than Ready trained by John Hyam who had three runners in the race. The favourite Chunky Custard by Niello a dual metropolitan winner finished fourth, so the race was a fair test for any debutante.

She Swings is a full sister to Courtier a winning 4YO gelding by Court of Jewels who ran 4th later in the programme at Morphettville in the rating 0-72 1200m handicap beaten 2.1 lengths in a quick 1.09.79. Also trained by Richard Jolly his turn in the winners circle is not far away.

Last week one of the best 3YO fields seen in Perth for a long time with 8 metropolitan winners saw the debut of Adam and Sophie Sangster’s Speech Room a gelding by Court of Jewels from Serendipity. His effort to run 4th just weakening from second in the last few strides was a top debut after making his run five wide on the corner. He runs again in the next week and should prove most competitive with that first run under the belt.

While the fourth horse featured for Court of Jewels in this last week is Bad Angel who was a half length second at Warracknabeel on Monday. Terribly ridden out four wide when the rider could have taken a sit the mare did a great job to corner wide out and keep hitting the line. Facing her first dry track over the 1200m trip she showed she has what it takes to win races.
