By Dash For Cash from Opera Weekend (NZ) (by Paris Opera )

By Hold That Tiger from Peaking Diablo (USA) (by Diablo (USA) )
Louisiana Downs US$50k 2YO Stks (LISTED) 1600m Turf

By Dash For Cash from Astral Bae (by Stargazer (NZ) )
Pioneer Park A$8k ClB 1200m

Swettenham Breeding Venture #1 Subscribed
Monday, 12 July 2010
Swettenham Stud is pleased to announce that its Breeding Venture #1 has met its minimum subscription level.
Swettenham proprietor Adam Sangster described the acceptance of the venture, the first of its kind that he had promoted as "very satisfying".
Adam Tims, a partner at specialist horse industry financial advisors Stable Connect was responsible for guiding the offer through the strict rules imposed by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
"I think this highlights the fact that a well constructed offer like the Swettenham Breeding Venture #1 can succeed despite the difficult investment climate in the thoroughbred industry", he said.
The offer provides investors with almost immediate cash flow, with the first three foals produced by the mares to be sold at the November Breeding Stock Sale in Kentucky.
"Two of the imported mares have now arrived in Australia and are close to leaving quarantine", Sangster said.
While the venture has raised the minimum subscription of $1.5 million, a few units are still available from the total fund limit of $2 million.
"Given the success of this venture, we're already planning the next one", Sangster said.
Swettenham and Stable Connect expect that the Swettenham Breeding Venture #2 will be open for subscriptions before the end of the year.

500 Season Wins Not "Pie In The Sky"
Monday, 28 June 2010

The Swettenham Stud “RESIDENT” stallions are staring down the 500 race winners for the Racing Season (August 1st 2009 to July 31st 2010).

Presently poised on 465 race wins for the resident stallions of Bianconi, Dash For Cash, Hold That Tiger, Court Of Jewels and freshman sire Keep The Faith the effort is even more meritorious when it is considered that previous stallions with progeny racing are not included.

Consider for instance that Jeune, Perugino and Halo Homewrecker who all stood recently have had over 100 winners of more than 140 races and you see what a winner producing environment is occurring at Swettenham Stud every season.

In fact the former Swettenham Stallion Halo Homewrecker (deceased) has taken Hong Kong by storm with his 3YO gelding Entrapment who has just recently broken the HK record for the most wins in a season winning his 7th race this year at Sha Tin on June 27th.

From Sunday the 20th of June to Sunday 27th of June the resident Swettenham Stallions had 21 winners:

*   Bianconi who has had 98 individual winners in Australia alone this season had 5 winners at solid tracks like Bendigo, Sunshine Coast, Doomben and Newcastle.

*   Dash For Cash boasting 67 individual winners in Australia and another 7 cracking winners in Asia saluted with 7 winners including two Cup winners (Townsville Cup $100k) and the absolutely sensational debut runner Black Jack in Singapore.

*   Hold That Tiger had a lazy 8 winners in the US including three allowance races, a 2YO Fillies Maiden and a Churchill Downs US$54k race. He has had 81 winners overseas and 25 in Australia this year.

*   Court of Jewels had only the one winner Alittlebitofmonica at Randwick, but she won in scintillating fashion. In the process notching a hatrick of wins and she has been sent to spell with the rich Spring 3YO Fillies races on her agenda.

*   While Keep The Faith produced another runner up on the weekend as another of his horses hit the line hard after being ridden patiently. KTF stays under notice with a slender lead in the Victorian first season sires premiership and with the promise of his progeny being even better at three.

The next month may throw up some very interesting statistics as the stud with the winning ways continues on their merry way. Swettenham Stud your source of quality. (IR)

Monica Completes Hat-Trick
Saturday, 26 June 2010

Court Of Jewels filly Alittlebitofmonica has helped lay the foundation for trainer Marc Conners' upcoming season with her third successive victory.

The filly is one of a band of two-year-olds who have performed well this season for Conners who is looking to them to continue on in 2010-11.

Sent out at $5 in Saturday's Plenary Group Handicap (1400m) at Randwick, Alittlebitofmonica fought off Bouzy Rouge ($6) in the straight to win by 1-1/2 lengths with a neck to Miss Opulence ($11) third.

"The stable is going great and nearly all of the horses are two-year-olds," Conners said.

"It's so good for the future and I'm hoping this filly will be among the ones to step up in the spring.

"She will go for a short break now and probably go straight to Melbourne because the Sydney spring will come too soon for her.

"We will give her a go at black type - she has earned it."

Alittlebitofmonica is out of Political Pet who also produced stablemate Morosi.

"I think we might call the next one Julia," Conners said.

Alittlebitofmonica was ridden by Tommy Berry who went into the meeting on 40 wins for the season, seven ahead of Brenton Avdulla in the race for the apprentices' premiership and well in front of his third-placed twin brother Nathan (19-1/2).

"I'm very competitive which Nathan can tell you," Berry said.

"Every time Brenton gets a winner I manage to get another to stay in front.

"This filly has won three in a row now and she's done a great job to do what she's done."

Favourite Extreme Mover ($3.20) weakened to finish fifth after leading while Dinky Mink ($3.60) was an unlucky fourth after finding it difficult to get clear running. (AAP)
