Take All Of Me gave Bruce & Jean Purcell their first metropolitan win of the season after taking out the AJS Corporation Handicap (1100m) for three-year-old fillies at Flemington this afternoon. The result was a positive one for Swettenham Stud with both the first and second placegetters being conceived at their Nagamabie property. Take All Of Me is by the ill-fated Swettenham sire Jeune while the runner-up Tonic is a proven Melbourne winning daughter of resident star Dash for Cash. Racing outside Tempest Tost, Take All Of Me made full use of her 4.5kg weight advantage on the favourite to gradually overhaul the favourite inside the final furlong. In the run to the line, Take All Of Me ($4-$6) defeated Tonic ($5.50-$6-$5) by half a length with Tempest Tost ($3.30-$3.80 fav) a further nose back in third. Fancied runners Indirect ($6.50) and Our Lona ($9) failed to impress, finishing sixth and last respectively in the seven horse field. The 3yo Magic Millions winner lost no admirers boxing on gamely under the big impost only to be edged out for second. Tonic made up some steady ground from just off the pace but never appeared to be a threat for the winner. Co-trainer Bruce Purcell said the victory reaffirmed his high opinion in the filly however is mindful of the improvement required to take the next step. "She's a lovely filly and I think she'll be better next preparation," Purcell said. "I like to see her settle a little bit better because it just might make the difference between her losing or winning a good race in the future." Dropping back in distance for the second time this preparation, Purcell suggested it wasn't by choice of connections. "The trouble is she raced over a 1000m and then she had to go over 1200m back to 1100m - it was a bit hard." "It would have been better stepping up from 1100m to 1200m but that's the way the programme worked out," Purcell added. Winning rider Darren Gauci, who partnered Tempest Tost to victory in the $1million 3yo Magic Millions said that the win was full of merit despite the pull in the weights. "She stuck to her guns well and Tempest Tost is hard to run down so it was an excellent effort," Gauci said. Plans remain intact for Tempest Tost to now go to Queensland with her main aim the Group 1 Winter Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm. Bred by connections, Take All Of Me is out of Tickle My a multiple stakes winning mare and by former Melbourne Cup winner and Swettenham Stud based sire Jeune. Her achievements include the 2003 Sunline Stakes (1600m, Group 2) at Moonee Valley and the 2001 Jayco Caravans Stakes (1420m, Group 3) at Flemington Take All Of Me is the second foal of the dam with stablemate Belong To Peri her other progeny.
