The present resident stallions at Swettenham have produced since August 1st 2009 the start of the Southern Hemisphere racing season to the end of April 2010 - 263 individual winners of 385 races. They are Bianconi 93 winners (87 Australia) for 141 wins; Hold That Tiger 90 winners (24 Aust) for 130 wins; (Dash For Cash 62 winners (57 Aust) for 86 wins; Court Of Jewels 16 winners (15 Aust) for 24 wins and Keep The Faith 2 winners, all Australian for 4 wins. When you consider that the resident stallions are following on the great winner producing stallions Rory’s Jester, Jeune and Perugino it is obvious that Swettenham Stud stallions produce winners. In 2010 we present the same stallion roster again to breeders. We are not lying idle with the roster because the elder statesman in the roster, Bianconi,, will be only 15 years old. In fact we have three stallions without runners - Kaphero entering his 2nd season and the two outstanding overseas Group racehorses Soldier’s Tale & Host entering their 3rd season. It is a very young stallion roster. Keep The Faith the stallion with his oldest only 2YO’s is drawing some serious attention with his first gallopers. However, we believe the real future for Swettenham Stud lies with Keep The Faith and the last three horses onto our Stallion Roster. Host and Soldier’s Tale both have weanlings while the first foals of Kaphero are eagerly awaited. The foals from the first two have been very good, strong types with plenty of power. They should appeal to the present day critical and discerning yearling market which is no mean feat. Host was a recognized champion at 2 and 3 in Chile and Horse of the Year in Chile as a 3YO. Host was a dual Group 1 winner winning the prestigious Shadwell Mile at Keeneland on turf storming home past the field which included Alinghi. Host is arguably the best entire son of Hussonet ever. He is a strong unit and so are his foals. His best support in his first season 2008 originated from South Australia pro-rata and interestingly the reports on foals are outstanding. Soldier’s Tale (Timeform 126) was the 2nd highest entire in the World Sprint rankings in 2007. He was rated 1lb above Takeover Target (Timeform 126) and 3lbs above Magnus (Timeform 122). His massive Group 1 win was achieved as a 7YO at his 8th and last career start in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot over 6 furlongs. He narrowly defeated Takeover Target in a clash of two tough campaigners; while in their wake lamented Amadeus Wolf (Timeform 122) in 11th place, Magnus 14th place and Miss Andretti in 15th place. Kaphero is the last stallion to come onto our roster and served 75 mares in 2009. He was an outstanding yearling still considered the best yearling ever presented by Swettenham Stud as a type. His astonishing speed was to the fore in three 2YO wins and he led the Golden Slipper field until inside the furlong. He returned to win 10 races, including 5 in succession before a half length third in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes. His first foals only have to be half as good as he was and Kaphero will be off to a flying start at stud.
