Hold That Tiger

In the last three days, Hold That Tiger’s 4YO daughter Danse Grecque (USA) ran home for a half length second in the Group 2 Saint-Cloud Prix Corrida over 2100m in France. From his first crop the mare has already been stakesplaced and from limited starts is showing great promise and her Group victory will come. Interestingly she performed on the soft track which has not been a common characteristic of the Hold That Tiger runners and so we can expect to see her improve as the racing tracks harden up in Europe. While Santana Six a 3YO Colt was a fast closing second, beaten a half-length, in the USA Spend A Buck 3YO Stakes LR at Monmouth Park, over 1670m on the Dirt.

Thursday, also proved that his few runners in Australia are also capable of improving his statistics. Dynamite Tiger was a good winner at her third run back from a spell. Jim Mason has always had a good opinion of the filly, but after displacing her soft palate at her debut run she needed an operation. This is her third run back this time; for a first up win at Bendigo and yesterday’s strong victory. Sandwiched in the middle was a disappointing run on a slow track which is consistent with most of his stock; except it seems Apprehend who won well at Mornington on a heavy track on May 12th (however he is out of a Touching Wood mare and they were swimmers).

Interesting comparisons can be drawn between Statue of Liberty (Service Fee $17,600 and a book that is supposedly filling fast) and Hold That Tiger who started their careers together and were both by Storm Cat.
