Alpine Rose (Linamix) was sent to last year’s Arqana December Mare Sale by H H the Aga Khan’s Studs as one of the star lots and realised €550,000. She was a winner and Group 3 placed three year-old at that time and is a half sister to Group 1 winner Fragrant Mix, as well as to four other black type performers. She comes from one of the great families founded by the Lagardere Family in France, prior to the sale of their stock to H H Aga Khan. Alpine Rose wins from Danse Greque (obscured) However, Alpine Rose (pictured) increased her value markedly on Thursday, as she won the 1m2f Prix Corrida (Gr 2) at Saint-Cloud, thanks largely to a canny ride from jockey Gerard Mosse, who is riding as well as ever following his return this winter from his spell riding in Hong Kong. Mosse kicked Alpine Rose to the front soon after halfway and established what to proved to be an unassailable advantage, as she held on by half a length from the fast-finishing Wildenstein-owned filly Danse Greque (Hold That Tiger), who was set an impossible task, having been held up near last off the steady early pace.
