Swettenham Stud's star sire Dash for Cash continued his winning run with his son Dashatin proving too good in the Istidaad Handicap (1800m) at Sandown today. Trained at Warrnambool by Matthew Williams, Dashatin was being set to make an impact at their recent famous three day carnival, but a minor setback led to him coming to Melbourne instead. "He nicked his leg on the Sunday before the May Carnival," Williams said in the moments after the strong win. "I thought he was going to be real hard to beat on the first day of the carnival in the 2300 metre race." "We just missed a bit of work and we freshened him up a little bit more." "We picked this race out for him and there we go." Williams has no doubt that Dashatin can continue to improve and notch up plenty more wins for his owners. "I've always liked him. I think today he showed he was on the right track." At the post Dashatin ($14) held a half length margin over Diggersanddealers ($17). Handsome Is ($8), the mount of Brad Rawiller, was third, another short head back. The favourite Tinamou ($2.70) got well back in the field and failed to run on as punters hoped in finishing seventh. Dashatin is one of three winners, but the first in town, from three runners for the triple city winning mare Tina's Debut. A daughter of Gold Carat, Tina's Debut is a half sister to the Group One Derby winner Bulta.
