Court Of Jewels Filly in Tough Debut |

She Swings a 3YO Filly ex Stallard (daughter of Last Tycoon stallion Monde Bleu) saluted in impressive style on Saturday at Morphettville in a 3YO sprint. Her last 600m was an exceptionally quick split of 34.06 and she carved out the 1000m in 57.57seconds which is very slick on debut for any young horse. She Swings In winning, a cool $29,800 jumped in for the winning owner Di Jolly who had a nice SABIS bonus as well. Husband and trainer Richard Jolly would have enjoyed the win and what better way to get the boss off your back than winning in town. Seriously, the Jolly’s deserved this win after the filly injured a tendon before she was due to be sold. Unable to risk selling a horse with an issue to clients they took the punt themselves and had the Ace Cells treatment. Since resuming She Swings has trialled well, improved in blinkers and now really gone on with it. The race saw She Swings defeat the Danzero filly, Danseda a Magic Millions Gold Coast $65k graduate and a previous city winner trained by David Hayes. Third was another city winner Believe In More a $50k Inglis Classic filly by leading stallion More Than Ready trained by John Hyam who had three runners in the race. The favourite Chunky Custard by Niello a dual metropolitan winner finished fourth, so the race was a fair test for any debutante. She Swings is a full sister to Courtier a winning 4YO gelding by Court of Jewels who ran 4th later in the programme at Morphettville in the rating 0-72 1200m handicap beaten 2.1 lengths in a quick 1.09.79. Also trained by Richard Jolly his turn in the winners circle is not far away. Last week one of the best 3YO fields seen in Perth for a long time with 8 metropolitan winners saw the debut of Adam and Sophie Sangster’s Speech Room a gelding by Court of Jewels from Serendipity. His effort to run 4th just weakening from second in the last few strides was a top debut after making his run five wide on the corner. He runs again in the next week and should prove most competitive with that first run under the belt. While the fourth horse featured for Court of Jewels in this last week is Bad Angel who was a half length second at Warracknabeel on Monday. Terribly ridden out four wide when the rider could have taken a sit the mare did a great job to corner wide out and keep hitting the line. Facing her first dry track over the 1200m trip she showed she has what it takes to win races.
