STACKAWAY

It is not very often that you see a really well built strong muscled weanling. However, when one presents for sale they invariably create a lot of competition and so it was with the 2006 colt by Dash For Cash from Stackaway (by Celtic Swing) that appeared at the Great Southern Sale Weanling Sale in 2007.

The colt attracted many interested bidders including Swettenham Stud and the bidding was brisk. Our limit was exceeded by Ampulla Lodge who successfully won the battle at $32,000 and purchased a really nice colt to pinhook to the yearling sales in 2008.

Dash For Cash was the leading first season sire in Victoria defeating Bel Esprit in 2007-08 and was awarded 8 yearlings in the 2009 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale main sessions. As Lot 210 the black colt by Dash For Cash enjoyed plenty of attention. He did not slip past astute judge George Smith who declared on the quiet that he had found another Bank Robber (an electrifying sprinter by Dash For Cash who was wooing them in Sydney), which George had found a couple of years earlier.

Sold for $125,000 to Star Thoroughbreds (Denise Martin) to be trained by Gai Waterhouse and the Jostlear's Ampulla Lodge was revered for a significant pin hooking exercise. However, the sale did not proceed smoothly and Steve quickly found the colt back in his care.

He was named Jacka Jacka and was readied for sale to Asia, which was accomplished with a minimum of fuss by his trainer Mick Kent. His long awaited racetrack debut was achieved on June 20th this year in Singapore. From the outside barrier the renamed Black Jack veered out and right; away from the field and finishing line. He was quickly brought around by his jockey and set out after the field after giving away a conservative 8 lengths and momentum. He started to charge into the bridle as the race went on and as he swung wide on the corner he started mowing them down. Impressive is an understatement. The margins were 3 lengths by 10 lengths and he ran quicker overall time than the Class 3 and Class 5 winners on the program.

Sometimes things happen for a reason. With the recently announced co-mingling of Australian TAB pools with Singapore the fast emerging racing hotspot may see the son of Dash For Cash earn greater headlines than he would in Australia.

It certainly has not taken the Singaporeans long to embrace the Swettenham stallions Bianconi and Dash For Cash with orders flowing in for colts by both horses. Tumbulgum by Bianconi has also made a significant mark on the racing landscape in Singapore and so we look forward to developing a lucrative market for our clients who have supported both stallions.
